Rwenzori Mountains National Park

The Rwenzoris – the fabled Mountains of the Moon – lie in western Uganda along the Uganda-Congo border. The equatorial snow peaks include the third highest point in Africa, while the lower slopes are blanketed in moorland, bamboo and rich, moist montane forest. Huge tree-heathers and colorful mosses are draped across the mountainside with giant lobelias and “everlasting flowers”, creating an enchanting, fairytale scene.

Also starting from Kazingo is the Bwamba Pass still just by the local population to cross the mountains and shorten the way to Bundibugyo. This tour starts at about 1700 meters and going up straight to 2500 meters, its highest point. From there it is ascending over steep terrain to Bundibugyo at 900 meters elevation. Another opportunity is to visit one of the Bakonjo communities and learn from their unique and distinct culture. Their way of living and language is differing from all others in Uganda and they had to endure quite big challenges in the past like expulsion, war and rebel activities.

Tours and Transport to areas in and outside the park can be arranged over Fort Green Tours & Safaris Ltd.
